Michael Schirmuly has experience in national and international patent prosecution and infringement procedures. Furthermore, he advises our clients in the fields of trademarks, designs and German employee invention law.<\/p>\n
He studied industrial engineering and management at the University of Siegen. During his studies, Michael Schirmuly worked for several companies in the field of mechanical engineering, plant construction and automotive industry. Michael Schirmuly has worked in the field of intellectual property law since 2008. After training stints at the patent infringement department of the Higher Regional Court (Oberlandesgericht) in D\u00fcsseldorf, at the German Patent and Trademark Office and at the Federal Patent Court in Munich, Michael Schirmuly qualified as German Patent Attorney in 2011and gained the license to practice as European Patent Attorney in 2013. As european patent attorney Michael Schirmuly is also qualified as a representative at the newly created UPC.<\/p>\n
Advising national and international clients on issues concerning intellectual property rights, in particular with regard to the acquisition and implementation of intellectual property rights before national and international patent authorities and courts, executing opposition and invalidity proceedings, representing clients before the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Court of Justice in invalidity appeal proceedings, issuing of IP due diligence and freedom to operate reports, assessing of legal validity as well as potential infringements of intellectual property rights, preparing of licensing and cooperation agreements, accompanying development projects, consulting with regard to the establishment of IP management processes and consultancy services in the field of employee invention law.<\/p>\n
