Dr. Robert Margue
Dr. Robert Margue has been working as a German and European patent attorney for over 15 years, specialized in chemical and technical inventions. After studying natural sciences at the University of London and obtaining his doctorate in organometallic chemistry from the University of Bristol, he began his professional career at an international British law firm with offices in Bristol and Munich, where he worked for many years and most recently as a salary partner, handling a wide range of clients from industry and research. In addition to his legal work, Dr. Margue was jointly responsible for the operational organization of an international law firm location for many years and led a series of webinars on European patent law issues.

Since 2022, he has been working as an patent attorney in Munich, advising a diverse range of clients, from research-oriented start-ups to established industrial companies, and also acting as a consultant to fellow patent attorneys as a “specialist for special cases.

His Luxembourg origins and background in German-English working environments give him a high degree of intercultural sensitivity. Dr. Margue understands patent law not only as a legal craft, but also as a contribution to the development of technological strategies. He enjoys working with clients who are themselves deeply knowledgeable in their field and is convinced that substance beats superficiality. His approach is characterized by curiosity, reliability, and a commitment to doing justice to every client—with thoroughness and foresight.

Focus

In his daily work, he combines scientific depth with legal precision. His work includes, in particular, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, representing clients in opposition and appeal proceedings, and preparing opinions on patentability and freedom to operate. He has extensive experience in national and international proceedings, including the coordination of international intellectual property portfolios. He has been involved in over 50 opposition proceedings.

Technical focus

His technical focus is particularly on fuels and fuel additives, propellants and lubricants, toner, medical implants, diagnostic procedures and kits as well on chemistry in its entirety – from organic and inorganic synthesis to polymer and materials chemistry, fine chemicals, catalysis, diagnostics, and special applications in paper and refractory technology. Many of his clients are active in areas at the interface between traditional chemistry and related technical disciplines.
